- Toggle-Lock™ outlet gates meet or exceed the requirements of AAR S-233-92 which was established as a specification by the Association of American Railroads to resolve performance problems inherent in many older style gate designs.
- The Toggle-Lock™ gate design has been in service since the mid 60’s, with over 150,000 sold . This type of performance indicates the reliability of the Toggle-Lock™ gate design.
- The gate features the rapid action, self-locking Toggle-Lock™ mechanism to open and close the gate. This avoids the use of a rack and pinion arrangement which can wear and get misaligned. It also allows quick smooth open and close operation with only one and a third turns of the capstan to open or close the gate.
- The Toggle-Lock™ mechanism cannot be over-opened as it has a positive stop. This stop prevents the loss of the slide plate even if the car is shipped with the gate in the open position
- The Toggle-Lock™ gate minimizes product hang-up. There are no horizontal surfaces in the discharge path. This provides free-drop interior surfaces and self-cleaning action.
- The Toggle-Lock™ gate is designed to minimize servicing requirements. For instance, the stainless steel pivot bushings reduce the need for lubrication.
- The Toggle-Lock™ seals are designed with anti-wicking material to help reduce the potential for moisture entering the car and may be readily inspected and replaced if necessary.
- The Toggle-Lock™ gate is secure in the closed or locked position. Full closure is easily observed when the seal lugs are in alignment providing easy visual identification of the closed position. The seal lugs allow for the use of car seals if desired.
- Railway security seals can be applied at either side of the outlet. When opening an outlet, the car seal is automatically broken by the mechanism.
- The gate and shaft mechanism are arranged for easy removal and replacement with interchangeable assemblies. Stainless steel bushings are used in all the mechanism pivots.
